What does IPL stand for?
     IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It is a type of laser technology that is used for a variety of skin care processes. It is able to remove hair, reduce wrinkles, treat skin blemishes, and even out skin tone. With consistent use it will help increase collagen production. This makes it a must have to help you have TrueSmoothSkin™.

How does IPL work?
     IPL is a form of light therapy. It emits a series of different wavelengths that scatter within the skin reaching various depths. Depending on its use, it will provide the user with the desired results - whether that be reduction of blemishes, pigment, wrinkles or hair! It is a very versatile technology.

Is it safe?
     There are a number of worldwide studies that demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of IPL for hair removal. Due to this fact, it has become an extremely popular safe at home treatment.
     However, it is advisable that you first speak with your doctor before using it to see if any of the medications you are taking may make your skin sensitive to light.
     IPL works by targeting the melanin in your skin and hair. Some darker skin types may not be able to use IPL. This is also true if you have recently gotten a tan.
     Caution is advised for anyone with Epilepsy. The bright flash may cause an epileptic episode.

Is it safe to use while pregnant or breastfeeding?
     Although no evidence stating that IPL has negative side effects on pregnant or breastfeeding women exists, we still cannot recommend using our handset if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, just as a precaution.

Is it safe to use over freckles, age spots or moles?
     No, it is not advisable to use IPL over very dark freckles, age spots or moles. However, light freckles and age spots are okay.

Are there side effects?
     When using the handset as recommended, side effects are rare. Redness and swelling is the most common side effect from IPL, which will quickly subside after treatment.

Can I use IPL over tattoos?
     You should not IPL over tattoos. The light energy will be more attracted to the pigments in the skin, rather than the melanin in the hair which can cause a reaction in the skin and blistering. You should always go around your tattoos.

Can I use the handset before or after tanning?
     If you have recently been sun tanning, we recommend waiting 2 weeks before using your handset. You should wait 48 hours to tan after using your handset. The same applies for sun beds. We advise removing all artificial tan before using our handsets, as the light energy may be more attracted to the pigments in the skin, rather than the melanin in the hair. You can reapply the tan after your session once the skin has relaxed.

Does it work on sensitive skin?
     Our handsets have been designed to be suitable for at home use, so is gentle on skin. This means that is suitable for sensitive skin types too! However, for maximum security, it is advisable to use the Handset only up to intensity level 3.

Does it hurt?
     One of the many advantages of the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset over other types of laser treatments is that it is PAIN-FREE. The majority of customers describe the feeling as a warm sensation on the skin.

Is it permanent?
     The TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset offers extremely long lasting results. No form of laser or IPL hair removal is permanent, even if you go to a clinic or salon. Beware of those claiming that it is permanent. There will be no regrowth of hair for approximately 6 months. To achieve long-term results we advise using the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset once a week for the first 8 weeks, then just once every few months for maintenance.

Do I need to wear eye protection?
     No, eye protection is not required while using the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset because they have been designed with a sensor and will not pulse a light unless the entire window is pressed against your skin. However, you should never try and look directly into the light as it flashes.

Can I use lotions and moisturizer after using the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset?
     Yes. In fact, using one with Aloe Vera can help alleviate any minor rash or redness you may have. Never use any lotions or moisturizers that are scented or perfumed.

How long will it take before I start seeing results?
     The majority of users start to see a reduction of hair in just 3-4 treatments with complete results after 9 treatments. However, results can vary from person to person.

How often do I need to use it?
     The recommendation is to use it once a week for the first 8 weeks. Then use it once a month for 2 months or until you achieve the desired results. If you want to maintain hairless, smooth skin after that, use the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset once every 2 to 3 months, or as needed.

Which areas of my body can I use this on?
     You can use your handset on your whole body and your face. However, avoid getting too close to your eyes.

Can it be used on all hair colors?
     IPL relies on melanin in the hair absorbing the light energy which makes it very effective on darker hair tones. If your hair is light blond, red, white or gray, you may just need 1-2 sessions more to achieve the same results as someone who has darker hair.

Does it work for all Skin Tones?
     The TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset is suitable for all but the darkest skin tones. Due to the restrictions of the IPL device, it is recommended that you use the chart below. Skin tones up to clay 1-2 can use any level of the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset. The skin tone clay 2-3 should use caution and start off with the lowest settings when using the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset. It is not recommended for anyone with skin tones above clay 2-3 because adverse effects like burns are possible.


Do I need to shave before using the IPL?
     Yes, you should shave before using the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset. The goal is for the light energy to reach the hair root as quickly as possible, so shaving or using a depilatory beforehand is essential to achieve the best results. The root does need to be in tact for IPL to be effective. This means no waxing, plucking, threading, or epilating.

Is it normal for there to be a slight burning smell while using the handset?
     Yes, this is completely normal. As the light energy is heating the hair, you may smell a slight burning. This means that there are still hairs that have not been removed from the skin surface. Try to ensure that you have thoroughly shaved prior to using the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset.

Is it necessary to use any methods of hair removal between IPL treatments? If so, which ones are recommended?
     It may be necessary to shave between your TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset treatments. If necessary, make sure that you use a razor or depilatory. You should never wax, pluck, thread or epilate as these methods will remove the entire root. The roots are necessary for IPL technology to work.

What is the recommended age to use the Handset?
     Users should be at least 18 to use the TrueSmoothSkin™ Handset.

How do I clean my Handset?
     Cleaning of the handset is advised after each use. You can use an alcohol wipe, or any antibacterial product to clean down the handset and the light window after treatment. Ensure your handset is powered off, and not plugged in before doing so. You should then store the handset in a cool, dry place after use (once the handset is completely dry).

Can I share my handset with someone else?
     Yes, you can. This may decrease the lifetime of the handset per user. You should also always thoroughly clean the handset after each use.

Is it suitable for men?
     Absolutely! The TrueSmoothSkin™ Handsets are suitable for both men and women.

How many years will this product last?
     Our handsets have a use-life of 500,000 flashes, which will last well over 10 years if used as directed.

How is the handset powered?
     Our handsets come with a 12V power supply.

What modes does the handset have?
     Our handsets have 3 modes you can use it on. Manual mode, where the handset will flash as you press the trigger button. Glide mode where it will flash, once the handset is ready, as you hold the trigger button down continuously. Auto mode, where the handset will flash on its own (when ready), without you pressing any buttons at all.

How strong is this product and what is the energy output?
     The TrueSmoothSkin™ Handsets have an energy output of 4.9J/cm2, this means it is ideal for safe hair removal, and is also approved for effective at-home use.

Does the handset come with a warranty?

Are there any reoccurring costs?
     No. This is a one time purchase. There are no parts that need replacements or refills.

How do I track my order?
     We will send an email with your tracking number after your order! You can track your order using your code and link.

How long is the shipping time?
     Order processing time takes 24 hours before shipment. Deliveries take between 2 to 4 weeks. It depends on where you live! You can 'Contact Us' by email TrueSmoothSkin@gmail.com for specific shipping times.

Package has "Delivered" status, but I have not received it?
     All of our shipments include a tracking number with delivery confirmation. If the tracking information confirms that the item has been delivered to your delivery address but you have not received your order, please contact your local post to investigate the issue. We cannot be held accountable for packages where tracking information states the package has been delivered to your order address.

I placed an order but I can't find a confirmation email... What is going on?
     Please make sure your email is correct when you place an order. Kindly check your SPAM folder to see if your confirmation email was sent there. If there is still no confirmation email, please email our support team at TrueSmoothSkin@gmail.com

Is there a tax or customs fee?
     It is very rare that our customers have to pay for an import tax or customs fee but being that we ship worldwide we are not responsible for any fees that your country imposes on importing packages. Please check with your local customs to see if there will be any fees if you are unsure.

Can I cancel my order for a refund?
     We offer full refunds minus a 15% restocking fee within 6 hours after placing your order. Due to our orders being shipped daily, we are unable to cancel an order after this time has passed. You can visit our Refund Policy page to learn more.
